Filomena Campus (First Class BA Hons, MA Theatre Directing) is a freelance jazz vocalist, lyricist, producer, theatre director, university lecturer, workshop leader and facilitator. Past teaching experience include working as MA MFA Theatre Directing Course Coordinator at the University of Essex, drama lecturer for the BA Physical Theatre, teaching Theatre Directing, Acting Techniques, Devising Techniques, Physical Theatre, Contextual Studies, Improvisation, Living History projects, Collaborative Theatre, Masks. Part time/ visiting Lecturer at Central School of Speech and Drama, Kingston University (Live Art and Drama Departments), Buckingham Chilterns University Campus (Drama Dept), University College London (Italian Dept),University of Cagliari (Foreign Languages and Literature Dept)
Filomena has worked, studied or collaborated with international theatre practitioners such as Nobel Price winner Dario Fo, Franca Rame, Eugenio Barba, Roberta Carreri (Odin Teatret), Marco Paolini, Stefano Benni, Marcello Magni (Complicite), Augusto Boal, Adrian Jackson, Judith Malina, Toby Wilsher (Trestle Theatre), David Glass, Frank Millward (Lumiere and Sons), Clive Mendus (Complicite), Mei Bao Jiu (Bejing Opera), Lelio Lecis (Teatro Akroama), Mario Pirovano, Frantic Assembly.
Since 1998 Filomena and Theatralia have delivered theatre and music master classes and workshops in Italy and UK. Sessions include: Jazz Singing and Vocal Improvisation, Vocal Master Class, Devising and physical theatre techniques, Acting techniques, Theatre Directing Techniques, Contextual studies, Masks, Political/Documentary/Civic Theatre, Theatre Semiotics, Theatre of the Oppressed, Communication techniques and stage presence, Live and Performance Art, Communication and personal impact skills, Team building workshops, Communications-based training workshops.
Filomena has led music workshops in UK together with top jazz musicians such as Orphy Robinson, Alex Wilson, Byron Wallen, Cleveland Watkiss, classic and jazz musician from the New London Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra and BBC Singers.
